I had the pleasure to work on Jungle Man as part of the Fun Train Art team in collaboration with the Fortell Games team. Jungle Man was the first Mixed Reality title I had the opportunity to work on. Part of my job was to participate in game design and art direction discussions, which led us to the decision that the Swamp chapter needed its textures re-worked. I was assigned the task of re-texturing all assets in this chapter to allow for a more cohesive and unique look. We wanted the Swamp to look, well, Swampy! It needed to be different than Jungle, but not too faded or unsaturated. A characteristic of a swamp is a darker, sometimes faded green, and, of course, moss. As a Savannah-based company, we decided to give it a southern US swamp look, including Spanish Moss on the portal and blue-green vegetation. To keep the slippery (yellow) vines different than the regular (green) Jungle vines, I kept the yellow color while opting for a darker shade and green and brown details. Still, not to drift away from the game's art direction, I kept the colorful mushrooms and flowers.
